Mega chandlery marks next step in expansion

The Boat Works’ $100 million expansion stage 1, 2 and 3 are well and truly taking shape, and the official opening of the new, 1,000m², purpose-built premises of Marine Supplies and Chandlery Superstore represents a milestone in what will be the country’s largest marina and shipyard, generating hundreds of jobs within the Gold Coast Marine Precinct.

The latest project to be completed, the $2 million Marine Supplies and Chandlery Superstore can lay claim to being the “one-stop” marine supplies shop for boaters, boat builders and trades, boasting aisles and aisles of shelves packed with 5,000+ products, from a single unit to a palette.

And if they don’t carry it, they’ll source it for you, that’s their promise.

John Lance, owner and Director at Marine Trade Supplies said the new Superstore is “architecturally-designed to our specifications, fully air-conditioned with a fantastic layout, Aqualuma lighting throughout the Superstore, polished concrete and the latest in shelving, shopping trolleys and conveyors at the counter for customer convenience”.

Needless to say, John and his team of six marine professionals are thrilled. “It’s all brand-spanking new and certified, all load rated and compliant with every code.

“Our new Superstore measures 56m each way! We are now on Beattie Road with main road exposure and our own parking lot and entrance. The second advantage for our customers is our location right near The Galley at the entrance of The Boat Works, centrally located with water views. It’s a much more pleasant shopping experience.”

“We go to great lengths to stock everything our customers need for vessels of all sizes, powerboats, sailboats, multihulls, recreational and commercial. And, if we don’t have it on the shelf, we will get it in with ultra-quick delivery times, often overnight!”

Products range from accessories and deck hardware, paint, fibreglass, resin, plywood sheeting and thermo-lite board, to a full selection of safety equipment, all detailing supplies, anti-foul, anchors, plumbing, electrical, LED lighting and Australian-made specialist ropes.

Brands include 3M, Farecla, Collinite, Presta, Wattyl Paint, SP Tools, Festool, Australian-made PWB anchor chain, and added most recently, brands such as Musto apparel, Yeti cups and storage, Hella lighting, Awlgrip and new to Australia, Jotun Xtreme gloss.

In most cases, Marine Trade Supplies is the local distributor, selling direct to customers and thus, cutting out the middle man and extra margins.

“We have hundreds of exclusive international and top-quality brands onboard and we’re always adding new lines as our customers request or standout products we discover at trade shows.

“We’re all boaties so we know the gear and how to use it. Every single product comes with expert advice.”

The team at Marine Trades & Chandlery Superstore has the boating background and expertise to handle any request or requirement. John, who has his Master Class 3 and a background helming commercial vessels in Cairns and superyachts in the Mediterranean, leads a team of four full-time marine professionals who are experts in all facets of boats and equipment.

“The Boat Works is booming,” said John. “It’s non-stop here because people know they can get everything they’re looking for in one place, with all the trades on-site, great facilities, top work ethic and 5-star service.”
