The marine industry has lost a Champion

The boating industry lost a true champion earlier this month with the sudden passing of well-known boating writer David Lockwood who passed away on 04 May after a short illness. David was 51.

Well known in boating circles across the country, David made a huge contribution to the industry writing about his passion of boating and fishing. Highly respected as a journalist, I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with David while he was the Editor of Trade-a-Boat magazine and we spent much time together doing what he called ‘boat test fests’ where we’d test a series of boats over a couple of days.

David was both, knowledgeable and meticulous and while our ‘boat test fests’ were hard work at times, they were always fun. After he moved on and joined the team at boatsales and we would still catch up occasionally at boat shows around the country.

David was totally immersed in his passion of all things boating and fishing. He will be sadly missed by many and the industry is much poorer for his passing.

We extend our deepest sympathy to his partner Katherine, children Summer and Sandy and his extended family. Rest in peace David.
