2,110 HP of Evinrude direct injection hits the water

2,110 HP, fifty-six metres of boats, ten engines, one day. Evinrude and Hervey Bay Marine Services went to Fraser Island with a fleet of E-TEC customers to talk outboards.

Launched at the Hervey Bay Marina, bystanders couldn’t help but look at the convoy of Direct Injection outboards idle out of the marina and power past Big Woody Island on their way to Fraser Island.

There was a wide range of boats that included aluminium, fibreglass, mono-hulls, catamarans, recreational and commercial. This is proof that the Evinrude E-TEC engines are fit for boats of all shapes and sizes.

Customers and Hervey Bay Marine’s mechanics praised the Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) systems because they are easy to control and simple to install. With no hydraulic steering rams cluttering the engine bay, new boats and repowers have a tidier finish.

Without torque, engines would not have horsepower. Evinrude E-TEC offers customers 30% more torque and the Fraser Island boat meet was a great real-life example of this in action with 3 aluminium boats that weighed over 4 tonnes and 1 fibreglass boat that weighed 2 tonnes.

The responsiveness of Evinrude E-TEC engines was emphasised over and over. Precise Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) combined with the outboard’s instant torque are the top two factors these customer’s chose Evinrude.

Weighing over 5 tones, the biggest boat was a whopping 9.5m SIC Plate boat. Commercial Captain and owner Steve Josefski said ‘the sheer torque of twin 300hp G2 Engines is what keeps my boat on plane while hammering out through big swell.’

Josefski said ‘a 4 stroke would require constant manipulation of the throttle to simply stay on plane’
