Recently retired Boating Industry Association GM Roy Privett, was awarded Life Membership of the BIA during the Sydney International Boat Show, Official Industry Breakfast held on Friday 04 August.
Roy retired in February this year having devoted 28 years to the recreational boating industry. Surrounded by industry, friends and his wife Dale, Roy was bestowed this special recognition on behalf of the industry by current BIA President Alan Blake.
Roy joined the Boating Industry Association as NSW General Manager in February 1989 after having been with the Motor Traders Association. His role was to manage the association matters including the planning and delivery of the first Sydney International Boat Show to operate from the then recently opened Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
As well as the boat show, Roy oversaw and guided the delivery of countless key projects and programs for the benefit of the industry including major industry submissions to Government for the enhancement of recreational boating facilities, and strong advocacy for the reduction of red tape for boaters.
