Yachts, Displacement and Planing Hull Power Boats are invited to register their interest to cruise in company from Queenscliff (Vic) to Flinders Island and Beauty Point, returning to Queenscliff in February - March 2018
Organised by the Queenscliff Cruising Yacht Club, the plan is to depart Queenscliff around February 23 - 24th for a duration of 15-20 days.
In anticipation of predominantly easterly weather it would be prudent to proceed along the Victorian coast where there are more protected anchorages, to Flinders Island via Deal Island and congregate at Lady Barron which affords some of the better all round weather protection. On the way to Beauty Point in the Tamar there are suitable anchorages at Kent Bay and Clarke Island.
Dependent on the participants, (and weather) the return to Queenscliff maybe via Deal Island, Refuge, Waratah Bay and Westernport.
The Cruise is in favour of minimal overnight sailing, anchoring in daylight hours using “set and forget” anchorages, and where possible pleasant sailing conditions.
Further details of specific anchorages available en route, duration of sail times based on an average speed of 5 knots, places of provedore and refuelling, and places of interest, will be available shortly.
Expressions of interest are welcome and should be directed to Mike Phelan, QCYC Club Captain. E: email@example.com Phone: 0429 982832
QCYC also advises that the Goorangi Memorial Trophy, Brighton to Queenscliff yacht race is scheduled for 11 November and entries are invited. More details at: www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=301056
